'The Addams Family' Creeping Into Wagon Wheel Center For The Arts Starting Wednesday

Posted
The entire Addams Family is creeping into the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts Wednesday through July 25.
“The Addams Family,” which premiered in 2010, is an award-winning musical comedy created by “Jersey Boys” authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The music and lyrics are by Andrew Lippa, and the score matches each character's personality, according to a press release from the Center. Gomez is marked by a Flamenco-style Spanish score, Wednesday has a more contemporary score, and Uncle Fester, a vaudevillian score. “Happy/Sad” is a ballad reminiscent of Stephen Sondheim, the release states.
The Addams Family features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare, according to the release. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. And if that weren’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
