Thanksgiving Meals Given Away Thursday

Posted

Many families and individuals will have a little extra to be thankful for Thursday, and the credit goes to several county businesses and organizations.

According to Jim Baker of Warsaw Elks Lodge No. 802, the service organization will offer a free Thanksgiving dinner, with either turkey or ham and all the trimmings, for the 19th year. Meals will be served free of charge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Center Lake Pavilion.

"The dinner is open to everyone," Baker said, "be they elderly, families, regardless of their income."

The Elks will also deliver meals to anyone unable to leave their home. To have a meal delivered, call 267-7802 by 3 p.m., Baker said.

The Katris family, owners of the American Table Restaurant in Warsaw, is also offering anyone 60 years old or older a complimentary meal between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to Jim Katris.

"We encourage everyone to attend. We don't charge for the meal. If a senior feels compelled to pay for the dinner, we ask them to drop a donation off in the Goodwill box," Katris said.

The American Table Restaurant is located at 3575 Lake City Highway.

Finally, North Webster American Legion Post 253 will offer its annual Thanksgiving dinner at the post on Ind. 13, south of North Webster. There is no charge for the dinner. A donation of a salad or dessert will be accepted from those wishing to contribute.
