Thanksgiving Feast

Posted

Bringing their Thanksgiving unit of learning to a close, the first-grade students at Pierceton Elementary School demonstrated their understanding of the first Thanksgiving feast by re-enacting the feast Nov. 26. The students wore costumes fashioned after the traditional wear of the Native Americans and pilgrims. Ms. Thompson's class of pilgrims shared the table with Ms. Howard's tribe of Native Americans. Mrs. Engle's tribe of Native Americans had a peaceable meal with Mrs. Klepinger's pilgrims. The students made homemade butter in the style of the pilgrims, and they cleaned and chopped vegetables for the stew made of things the pilgrims and Native Americans might have grown. The Pierceton first-graders have been reflecting on all the things they are thankful for, and how their lives are so much different from the early settlers of America. Pictured are Meagan Christoffel and Hannah Salmons enjoying their Thanksgiving feast.
