A Claypool woman was arrested Sunday after giving birth to a baby that allegedly had methamphetamines in its system. According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department press release, deputies and detectives responded Sunday morning to Kosciusko Community Hospital at 10:30 a.m. and were informed that Multi-Township EMS had responded to 7094 S. CR 100E, Claypool, when a woman entered labor in her front yard. The officers were told that after a preliminary test on the mother, identified as Sarah Ann Mills, 21, of that address, she and her newborn child had shown the presence of meth in both their systems. The baby was immediately transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where it remains in serious condition. Mills was arrested and preliminarily charged with felony neglect of a dependent and is being held under a prosecutorial hold.
