Test drive a Ford Saturday and help raise money for Warsaw Community High School. Rice Ford Lincoln Sales Manager Bob Sullivan said this is the third year that the school has participated in Ford Motor Company’s “Drive 4 Your School” fundraiser. The dealership provides the vehicles. The school earns $20 for each test drive Saturday, up to a total of $6,000. The event is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the high school. Sullivan said those who test drive a Ford will fill out a survey with their name and some other information. “The dealerships provide the cars, gas and the insurance for the events,” Sullivan said. Volunteers from the school and PTO run the event, with dealership employees assisting. Sullivan said PTO President Maria Tucker has been instrumental in having the fundraiser at the school. Sullivan said the fundraiser was a way for the school to earn money without students having to go door to door selling candy. “We always want to be supportive of the school,” Sullivan said. At the event, Sullivan said they will have about 10 vehicles available to test drive, including a lot of their popular models like the Ford Focus and Ford Fusion. Since this is “truck season,” he said they also may have two or three F-series Ford trucks. The test drives Saturday will take only about five minutes each, but if someone is interested in a vehicle they can take longer or visit the dealership, he said. WCHS Principal Troy Akers said they were really excited about the fundraiser to help WCHS and the Warsaw Area Career Center. “In my 29 years of education, I’ve never seen such an easy fundraiser where the money goes back into the classroom,” Akers said. He said he appreciated the PTO working with Ford Motor Company on the fundraiser. It will be good to see money come back into the classrooms and supplement the department budgets, he said. The fundraiser will have a direct effect on students. “Drive 4 Your School” will provide Rice Ford Lincoln a good opportunity to display its new vehicles, Akers said, and will be a fun event. It doesn’t take much time and it’s not labor intensive, and the community is just being asked to take part to help raise money for the school. “I can’t say enough about the PTO. They do a wonderful job,” Akers said. Additionally, he said there will be incentives for people to come out and take a test drive. Anyone who test drives will be entered into a drawing for two Indianapolis Colts tickets. Participants must be 18 with a valid driver’s license.
