AKRON – Terry L. Foust, 68, of rural Akron, died at 10:28 p.m. Sept. 4, 2011, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, where he was a patient one day and after an extended illness.
He was born May 4, 1943, in Peru, to James R. “Dick” and Anna V. Bubell Foust. On Dec. 20, 1974, in Akron, he married Betty Lou Smith Slaybaugh, who survives.
He was a truck driver since 1962 for Brown, Wabash; L&J Trucking, Peru; and Swihart Trucking, Silver Lake. He graduated in 1961 from Noble Township High School, Wabash, and served in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved life and his truck driving. He was an avid I.U. basketball fan.
Also surviving are a stepson, Bret (and spouse Ramona) Slaybaugh, Leesburg; a daughter, Kim (and spouse Bob) Whitney, Fort Wayne; a sister, Joanna Powell, Morganton, N.C.; four grandchildren: Brooke Whitney, Fort Wayne; Danny and Stephanie Armstrong, both of Lancaster, Ky.; and Katalin Lundberg, Armstrong, Pensacola, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Toni Shambaugh, Akron; and two step-great-grandsons, Galvin and Thad Shambaugh, both of Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori Armstrong; and a sister, Wiladean Foust.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Butch Troke officiating. Burial will be in Nichols Cemetery, Akron.
