Editor, Times-Union: When you defend yourself with lies, expect the truth to be your biggest enemy. I’ve heard both Trump and Hillary mangle the facts so badly and stomp on them with both feet that it is a wonder anyone believes them. I’ve suggested that a Trump sandwich would have a spicy tongue, and a Hillary sandwich would have a cold shoulder, with both being loaded with baloney. People marveled at how well Bill Clinton could lie and get away with it. Hillary’s attempts to lie are laughable because the facts to disprove her are often easy to find. Obama uses lies to warp public policy. Did you really think that you could keep your health care insurance and doctor under Obamacare? Do you really think unemployment is below 5 percent with nearly 95 million not working? Bill Clinton allowed the Chinese to steal missile technology and thought an agreement with North Korea would keep that country from developing nuclear weapons. Obama and Hillary allowed the world to become more dangerous and they think they are foreign policy experts. No wonder Trump wants to allow Japan and South Korea to have nuclear weapons to defend themselves. And when Iran launches a missile with a nuclear warhead toward Israel, which will be destroyed over Syria, do you think Obama will say, “Oops. I guess I goofed”? I heard Hillary say the economy has always done well when a Democrat was in the White House. I guess Carter was never president and we had a fantastic economy during the Great Depression when FDR was president. She doesn’t credit Reagan for helping make the economy great again and produce conditions which freed Eastern Europe from Communist rule. Not bad for a man whose critics believed he would start World War II or nuke the Soviet Union. Many things Trump has said are troubling. But if he wants to be a good president he’ll surround himself with competent people to help him, America and the world. What should frighten people more is that Hillary wants to continue the Obama policies and most likely will make things worst. If she becomes president and the economy collapses, plus terrorists cause chaos in America, she’ll probably say things would have been worst if Trump were president. Reality should destroy her fortress of lies. I hope that if things fall apart when Trump is president, he doesn’t resort to lies and accepts responsibility for any problems he causes.
