Editor, Times-Union: The letter last week accusing David Kolbe of using Republicans for Kolbe signs to convince people that he is really a Republican was either a pitiful misguided attempt to fool people or an outright lie to accomplish the same thing. Those signs are for Republicans that have decided they would rather support a moderate candidate from the Democrat Party than the extremist candidate from the Republican Party. Mr. Kolbe would probably be considered moderate no matter which party he ran under. His opponent would be considered radical in any party. I realize that the extremist views the Republican has are mostly views he has been fed by his handlers, and it’s hard to find out what he really thinks because either he does not have enough confidence in himself to take part in a debate or his staff has the same doubts about his ability and won’t let him debate. He can make any excuse he wants, but it’s easy to see that he doesn’t want to be held accountable for his, or their, extreme views. For any moderate voters of either party, the choice is easy in the next election. David Kolbe can and will work with both sides of the aisle to move Indiana forward and that is what we need, Not an extremist who will put his agenda ahead of what is best for all of us. No matter what party you belong to, David Kolbe is the right choice (and he has signs you can use to show your support). Steve Haines Warsaw
