Kosciusko County Councilman Larry Teghtmeyer, Leesburg, has filed for re-election.

Teghtmeyer is finishing his second term as an at-large member of the council. He also served as a District 1 councilman from 1974 to 1994.Teghtmeyer said he has a long-standing interest in the economic health and well-being of Kosciusko County, where he is a lifelong resident. He said, in the coming term, the council's challenges will include adjusting to changes that may be made by the state legislature.

Teghtmeyer said one of his priorities as a councilman is to continue providing quality county government services while keeping the costs down. He said, according to the latest Farm Bureau statistics, Kosciuskso County has the second lowest county property tax rate in Indiana.

Teghtmeyer said his long-term experience as a councilman and his business experience as owner of Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware stores has prepared him to make informed decisions on complex issues faced by the council.

Teghtmeyer, 63, lives with his wife, Cathy, near Tippecanoe Lake. He is a 1962 graduate of North Webster High School. He attended Ball State and Purdue universities and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968.
