MENTONE - Charges are likely against two Tippecanoe Valley High School students from separate incidents there Wednesday.

Matthew A. Crump, 15, of 202 S. Clay St., Claypool, allegedly threatened to kill three teachers after he received a "referral form" for discipline. He reportedly walked out of his homeroom Wednesday morning after making the statement that he was going to kill a particular teacher. He then returned to the room and reportedly told another student he would kill two other teachers, too.

Two teachers' aides overheard Crump and provided written statements regarding the alleged threats.

Crump was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail for questioning and, after being removed from the squad car, a bag containing what appeared to be marijuana was found in the seat.

The matter was referred to the probation department for review and any charges would be filed through that department, according to Sheriff Al Rovenstine.

The probation department also will review the case against Jon E. Royal, 15, of 9536 W. CR 900S, Claypool.

Royal was questioned Wednesday morning after school officials received information that he might have marijuana with him. An investigation revealed that Royal was allegedly in possession of a small hanging scales, rolling papers, a pack of cigarettes, a lighter, a small metal case containing tobacco, a pager and a small bag of oregano. Some of the items were confiscated by police, and some were left for evidence to be used in a suspension hearing.

Royal reportedly told police and school officials that he brought the oregano and paraphernalia to school to make other students believe that he used marijuana and to impress them since he is new to the school.

After questioning, he was released to his mother's custody.
