Teens 'Fair' After Crash Near Webster

NORTH WEBSTER - Two teenagers were injured Thursday night in a one-vehicle accident on Syracuse-Webster Road, near North Webster.

Neil A. Likens, 16, East Backwater Road, North Webster, suffered a broken neck in the 11:16 p.m. accident south of CR 800N, police said. He was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he was listed in fair condition this morning.

According to a preliminary Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department report, Likens said he swerved to miss a deer in the roadway before his vehicle left the road, traveling 150 feet off the east side of the road.

The Chevrolet Blazer reportedly rolled over and the occupants were trapped inside the wreckage.

Also injured was a passenger in Likens' vehicle, Megan Schrader, 15, Camp Mack Road, Milford. She suffered a broken leg and was listed in fair condition this morning at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Damage to Likens' vehicle is estimated at $2,500 to $5,000.
