Teens Arrested, Beer Found At Party

Posted

An alleged underage drinking party resulted in three arrests Wednesday night and two this morning when minors returned to the scene to retrieve some belongings.

While patrolling in the area of U.S. 30 and Ind. 15, Ptl. Joe Stanley of the Warsaw Police Department saw several vehicles parked on the access road to Hidden Lake, just off Ind. 15.

Upon investigation, Stanley located several high school-age people. Stanley noted in his report that a few of the students ran into the woods and one told him that the property was owned by his parents, who were present. Stanley talked to the teen's father, who said he was not aware that the party was going on there and was contemplating whether to tell everyone to leave. The man asked that the area be checked for alcohol, and a police dog was brought to the scene.

Police reportedly located a case of beer floating in Hidden Lake and a case of beer on the west side of the property. During a search of the area, three young men were found lying in the brush at the water's edge. The three allegedly had been drinking and were booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of illegal possession or consumption of alcohol by a minor. Arrested were:

• Jonathan Jermaine Carr, 18, of 7711 W. Beachwood Drive, Warsaw;

• Scott Austin Snyder, 18, of 214 N. Detroit St., Warsaw; and

• Jose Miguel Esquivel, 18, of 2828 Williamson Drive, Warsaw.

All three were being held on $175 bond.

Stanley also asked that the area be checked throughout the night because some of the 25 to 30 partygoers who tested negative for alcohol consumption might return to the scene to retrieve any alcohol that may have been left behind.

A car coming out of the access road at 5:32 a.m. today was stopped and searched for alcohol. None was found, but two passengers tested positive for alcohol consumption.

Tyrel Alan Patrick, 19, of 3025 W. Sunset Drive, Silver Lake, and Timothy James Roe, 18, of 87 Tepee Drive, Warsaw, were booked into the county jail on charges of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. They told Ptl. Brian Hupp of the WPD that they were released from the scene earlier and returned for a backpack left in a car parked there. They reportedly said their drinking took place after they left the party. The driver of the car was not drinking and was released without charges.
