Teens Airlifted after 100 MPH Accident, Rollover

Posted
Three women were airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne early Saturday morning after their car crashed and rolled over multiple times on Ind. 15 near CR 500S.

Shortly after midnight, a Bronze 2006 Honda Civic LX, driven by 18-year-old Kaley L. Rinehart Depositar, Granger, was reportedly traveling northbound on Ind. 15 when Depositar crossed the centerline and attempted to correct the vehicle. At that time she lost control of the vehicle and it skidded off the road into an embankment, rolled over as many as six times, then landed upright.

According to law enforcement, Depositar was traveling in excess of 100 mph.

When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, Depositar was standing next to the vehicle while her two passengers, Judith B. Thomas, 18, of Carmel, and Janell D. Geiger, 18, of New Paris, were trapped inside the vehicle.

All three women were airlifted to Parkview Hospital. As of press time this morning, Geiger had been released from Parkview, but Depositar and Thomas were in fair condition. All three complained of neck and head injuries.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies took a portable breathalyzer test at the scene, which came back negative for alcohol. The crash is still under investigation.
