Teen 'Serious' After AccidentLEESBURG - One man is listed in serious condition after his car collided head-on with a truck near Leesburg Tuesday evening.
Justin Ryan Monroe, 18, of 2355 W. CR 600N, Leesburg, suffered internal and leg injuries in the crash and was taken to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, in critical condition. His condition was later upgraded to serious.
According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Monroe was westbound on Armstrong Road near CR 200E around 5:12 p.m. Tuesday when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the center line and hit a large flatbed Lowe's Home Improvement truck head-on.
The driver of the truck, Ronald L. Phillips Jr., Jefferson Street, Silver Lake, was not injured in the crash.
When sheriff's deputies arrived at the crash, they immediately called the Kosciusko County crash investigation team to respond.
Crash investigation team members said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The Leesburg Fire Department, Multi-Township EMS and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene of the accident.
