A North Manchester teen-ager is in critical condition in Fort Wayne today following an accident Monday on County Farm Road, Warsaw.
Shannon Bradley, 17, of West Ind. 114, North Manchester, was airlifted yesterday to Parkview Memorial Hospital by Samaritan Medical Helicopter. She was injured at approximately 11:45 a.m. Monday in an accident at the intersection of County Farm Road and CR 300E, outside Warsaw.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office reported that Bradley was southbound on County Farm Road when she swerved to miss a pickup driven by Pinkney Pitts, 61, of Wildwood Trail, Warsaw. Pitts reportedly was stopped at a stop sign on CR 300S and started into the intersection without seeing Bradley's oncoming car. Bradley struck Pitts' truck and skidded off the roadway, striking a utility pole broadside.
Bradley was pinned in her car and the Warsaw Fire Department used the "jaws of life" extrication equipment to free her. She was airlifted to Parkview from the scene.
The sheriff's office said the accident is still under investigation, but the speed of Bradley's car may have been a factor in the accident.
