A Warsaw teen is in critical condition after an apparent overdose Monday at his residence.
Joshua Russell Farias, 14, of Old Colony Road, was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, and was later airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Farias reportedly took four prescription medication pills for depression and five painkillers Sunday night. The overdose is not believed to have been deliberate.
A friend who was at Farias' residence woke the teen's mother about 11:30 a.m. because Farias was "making funny noises" and wouldn't wake up. The teen's 13-year-old sister told authorities she saw her brother take the pills the previous night and, when she asked him why he was taking them, Farias reportedly said he wanted "to get a buzz."
When emergency crews arrived on the scene at 12:51 p.m. Monday, Farias was unresponsive and turning blue. CPR was started and, when the ambulance arrived at the hospital, the teen had a pulse, but no other signs of life.
