Teen Crashes Parents’ Car In Warsaw After 2-County Police PursuitA police pursuit that began west of Columbia City early Saturday morning ended in Warsaw when the teen driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
According to information provided by Indiana State Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Brian Walker, the 15-year-old male driver refused to stop when an officer tried to pull him over for a speeding violation. The teen - whose name was not released - had unauthorized control of his parents’ vehicle and was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The pursuit started west of Columbia City and ended in Warsaw after stop sticks were placed by Warsaw Police Department at some point, according to Walker, and the teen was unable to maintain control of the vehicle. WPD Public Information Officer Capt. Brad Kellar said WPD assisted with the pursuit and the crash occurred at the southwest corner of Winona Avenue and Buffalo Street. Kellar said the juvenile suspect was taken into custody after the accident without incident.
Walker stated the juvenile defendant was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital for evaluation, but he was not sure of any charges against the teen at this point. The case will be turned over for review and determination of charges. Kellar said the teen suffered minor injuries.
