Tax Time

Posted

The dreaded April 15 deadline for filing federal income taxes has come and gone. In an annual spring rite, last-minute filers headed to the post office. In a humanitarian gesture, the post office stays open until midnight, allowing filers the maximum amount of time to get that all-important April 15 postmark. Postal employees said last night was the busiest ever. Above, Ray Stanfield, Warsaw, proudly displays the coloring book he received from postal clerk Connie Haney. Stanfield received the award for being the last one to drop off his taxes. Stanfield has a tradition to uphold since he was the last filer last year, too. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
