Editor, Times-Union: The IRS, using new software, is having many problems this tax season in issuing refunds as projected in their Refund Cycle Chart. We, tax professionals, can only refer to this chart when advising clients when they may receive their refunds.
I have been advised by several clients that they have not received their refunds as I indicated. I referred to the IRS website, irs.gov, but it did not provide much information. Either the scheduled date was extended by two weeks or the IRS could not give any information even though they had received and accepted the return.
To sum up. This situation is beyond our control and we can only advise to keep checking with your bank to determine when the refund has been received.
We understand that the IRS is working on this problem, but we don’t know when it will be resolved.
