Task Force Hosts Gang Awareness Meeting For Parents

AKRON - The Akron Community Relations Task Force will host a Gang Awareness Meeting for Parents of the Akron Community March 17 at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Akron United Methodist Church.
The presenter will be School Resource Officer Dave Morales of Warsaw Community Schools. Information will be presented in Spanish and similar to the Gang Awareness Meeting previously conducted in English at Tippecanoe Valley High School.Participants will learn what a gang is, who typically joins a gang and why, what gang members wear, signs of gang activity, the warning signs of gang involvement, current area gang activity, and what individuals and communities can do to discourage gang involvement and activity.
Refreshments will be served and childcare provided.
