SILVER LAKE - A Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputy had to use his taser to subdue an intoxicated Claypool man early Sunday morning.

Christopher A. Reeser, 24, of CR 600W, Claypool, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:49 a.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated and resisting/fleeing law enforcement. His bond was set at $550.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department received a call early Sunday morning about a man who was passed out at the gas pumps at the McClure's Gas Station in Silver Lake.

When officers arrived, Reeser allegedly was passed out behind the wheel of a red 2006 Ford Mustang that was parked in front of the gas pumps.

Deputy Shane Bucher reportedly went to the car, removed the keys from the ignition and tried to verbally wake Reeser. When that attempt did not work, Bucher touched Reeser's arm and identified himself.

Reeser then allegedly woke up, jumped out of the car and swung his arm at Bucher, hitting Bucher's upper left arm.

Bucher ordered Reeser to the ground, but Reeser refused to comply and reportedly began swinging at him, causing Bucher to activate his taser.

Once the taser was deployed, Reeser walked about 10 feet before being incapacitated by the taser. At that time, Bucher reported put Reeser in handcuffs.

Reeser allegedly told Bucher that he did not remember what happened and later apologized for swinging at the officer.

While Bucher was putting Reeser in handcuffs, Deputy J.D. Ayers went to the car to get Reeser's wallet and allegedly found a loaded .45 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun in the vehicle.

Reeser reportedly told police he had been at a bachelor party and drove from the party to the gas station to fill his car. He said he did not remember falling asleep at the gas pumps and did not remember the altercation with the officer.

The emlployee on duty at the gas station at the time of the incident said Reeser had been parked at the pumps for about 30 minutes when police were called.

Reeser was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail where he reportedly tested at .12 percent BrAC when given a breathalyzer.
