Talmas, Wottring, Mangas Among CL Weekly HonoreesAVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from the week of Oct. 21-27. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners.

Men’s Soccer

Offensive Player

Marcelo Talamas, Grace

Talamas scored once and assisted two other Grace goals in a 4-0 shutout of Marian to finish the regular season ranked second in the Crossroads League with 15 goals.

 Defensive Player

Colton Wottring, Grace

Wottring extended his scoreless streak in the net past 206 minutes for the Lancers in GC’s 4-0 shutout of Marian in the regular season finale. Wottring picked up three saves in the win.

Men’s Basketball

Kyle Mangas, IWU

Mangas averaged 24.5 points, 7.5 assists, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan’s wins over No. 12 Cornerstone and Aquinas. Mangas shot 55.2 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent from deep and 92.3 percent from the charity stripe.

 Women’s Basketball

Lauren McBryar, St. Francis

McBryar connected on 65.4 percent of her shots in two wins for No. 13 Saint Francis, drilling 10-of-19 triples and averaging 23.0 points and 2.0 steals per outing. The junior hit seven treys in 10 tries and poured in 29 points in USF’s 82-48 victory over Rochester.

Volleyball-Attacker

Rachel Klitzing, IWU

Klitzing averaged 3.7 kills per set with an attack percentage of .372 in a pair of sweeps for No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan. The junior middle hitter had over half of her swings on the week result in terminations.

Volleyball-Defender

Ellie Ruby, Mt. Vernon

Ruby collected 24 digs in a three-set win over Huntington for Mount Vernon Nazarene and added one ace in MVNU’s lone contest of the week.

Volleyball Setter

Alex Falcone, IWU

Falcone kept the No. 4 Wildcats rolling with 10.5 assists, 3.0 digs and 1.8 kills per set in sweeps over Grace and Saint Xavier. Falcone notched a double-double with 38 assists, 14 digs and six kills in IWU’s win over the Lancers.

Women’s Soccer - Offense

Mackenzie Selvius,

Spring Arbor

Selvius scored all three of No. 21 SAU”s goals in a 3-0 win against Huntington for the first hat trick of her two-year career with the Cougars.

Women’s Soccer Defense

Delanie Hill, Marian

Hill helped No. 19 Marian to a 2-0 victory against No. 16 Grace in the final regular season match for the Knights. The victory pushed MU to second place in the league standings.

Men’s Cross Country

Chris Maxon, IWU

Maxon led No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan at the Great Lakes Challenge with a time of 24:48 to take third-of-311 runners. Maxon was the top Crossroads League finisher at the event.

Women’s Cross Country

Sarah Harden, Taylor

Harden raced to the individual championship at the Great Lakes Challenge with a time of 18:04 to help No. 5 Taylor finish fourth overall.
