NORTH MANCHESTER – Class 3A No. 4 Tippecanoe Valley didn’t waste any time taking control of Thursday’s regular season finale. In a Three Rivers Conference girls basketball game at Manchester, the Lady Vikings led 28-7 after one quarter of play and 41-14 at halftime, as they cruised to a 69-42 win over the Lady Squires. With the 27-point victory, Valley improved to 21-1 on the season and won the TRC title outright with a 9-0 record. Manchester finished the regular season at 9-13 overall and 3-6 in the TRC. The Lady Squires won just one game two years ago, but won eight last season in their first year under coach Jake Everett. Under coach Chris Kindig, and with standout Anne Secrest on the team, Valley has won 19-straight conference games and gone 21-2 in the TRC over the past three seasons. Secrest scored 17 points, pulled down five rebounds and dished out two assists Thursday. Addy Miller also scored 17 points in the win, while Brynda Krueger scored 11 points and dished out eight assists, and Meredith Brouyette and Hannah Dunn chipped in with seven and five points, respectively. Dunn led the Lady Vikings in rebounds with seven. Cierra Carter led Manchester with 13 points, while Bailey Sewell and Drew Thompson scored eight points each, and Rae Bedke chipped in with seven points. Both Valley and Manchester are in action again Tuesday when they open play in the 41st annual state tournament. The Lady Vikings host 3A Sectional 21 and play Wawasee at 6 p.m., while the Lady Squires square off with Oak Hill at 7 p.m. in Class 2A Sectional 37 at Rochester High School.
