T. Valley School Board Updated On High School Construction ProjectAKRON – Scott Rogers, project manager with The Skillman Corporation, updated the Tippecanoe Valley School Board Thursday about the progress of construction at the high school.

The demolition of the pool has been started, including getting all the pipes stripped out. The storm line is still being worked on. Installation piping is being removed in the tunnel system under the pool. Dealing with the utilities is also coming along really well, he said.

Over the next couple months, work, such as clearing out the curb and gutter system, will be done. The pool is expected to be complete during winter break this year.

Rogers said new boilers for the high school are all ready on site and so workers are going to do some work switching over to the new boiler system. He confirmed procurement of equipment for the project like boilers is ahead of schedule, so places are being found to place items until they’re needed.

Board member Todd Hoffman asked if there were any issues with construction.

Rogers said they have come across a couple odd storm lines and some of the lines they’ve come across are going the opposite way than initially thought. Skillman has been working through those issues with contractors. He said there hasn’t been too many issues during construction, though.

Rogers said the glazing work for the project was rebid out and there were two bids. He said the lowest bidder is a reputable company and he’s worked with them on several projects.

Superintendent Blaine Conley said the board will be asked to approve the bid for the work during its regular board meeting Monday. Thursday’s meeting was the board’s work session.
