SYRACUSE - With one petition dropped, the Syracuse Board of Zoning Appeals had only two petitions remaining Thursday and both were by the same petitioner.
Mark Dunithan wants to build a garage at his residence. However, due to how close it will be to the road right of way and the location of the residence, Dunithan had to seek a variance and an exception.
His exception is to allow a residential accessory building to be constructed in a commercial district. The variance is to permit a residence accessory building 6 feet from a north property line. The property is on the west side of Ind. 13 and east of Harrison Street in Syracuse.
There were no remonstrators.
The zoning board approved the exception and the variance on the condition that Dunithan provide the board with a copy of his latest survey of the property with a more accurate site plan.
Carl and Sandra Brandon, in a letter to the board, asked that their petition for an exception be withdrawn. The petition was to allow an additional duplex in a residential district to be constructed creating three duplexes on the property and relieving restrictions created under a previous case.
The property is on the west side of Harkless Drive and 180 feet north of Maple Grove in Syracuse.
Members of the Syracuse BZA are Michael Brower, Steve Sharp, Stan Insley, Jon Brookmyer and Barbara Carwile. They meet at 7 p.m. in the Syracuse Town Hall on the third Thursday of every month.
