A Syracuse woman is facing forgery and check fraud charges after allegedly using checks to pay for pizza deliveries.

Harley Alexis Miller, 21, of 104 N. Huntington St., Syracuse, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:24 p.m. Thursday and faces two Level 6 felony forgery charges and two Class A misdemeanor check fraud charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on March 30 a Kosciusko County Sheriff deputy responded to a report of check fraud and was told by a pizza restaurant manager that a woman had used a check to pay for $28.86 of pizza delivery to the Huntington Street address. The manager told police the check didn’t look right due to it being written in black sharpie and written from the Yeager Photography business account, which showed the check had been originally cashed and returned in 2001, according the court papers.

The manager also said a second incident of the same nature occurred with a check written for $35 to cover the cost of the pizza order.

When police spoke with the pizza delivery person, according to the affidavit, the driver was able to identify Miller as the person who presented the checks for payment.

The investigation also revealed, according to the affidavit, that Yeager Photography has been out of business for approximately 15 years and that Miller rents the 104 N. Huntington St., residence, to which was also the original location of the Yeager Photography business.

Her bond was set at $5,500.
