The town of Syracuse and former police officer Ron Moser have settled their differences, but the officer won't be returning to the police department.
Moser, who had a long, difficult relationship with the town for several years, filed suit last year after he was fired.
Terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but Moser will not rejoin the city, which he had sought.
The town fired Moser for conduct unbecoming of an officer stemming from an arrest Moser made in a drug bust nearly 10 years ago.
The suspect alleged Moser planted evidence and the case was thrown out of court after the judge questioned the officer's veracity.
Moser, noting the arrest was nearly 10 years old, accused the town of digging up dirt to get rid of him.
His firing came shortly after he openly criticized then-Police Chief Bob Ziller of improper activity. Ziller later resigned under pressure even though the town cleared him of any wrongdoing.
