INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Syracuse resident Danny Zent must have been one tired Hoosier this weekend.
The father of two took home $167,000 from the 'Hoosier Millionaire' television program broadcast Saturday night, and the experience apparently wore him out.
'I am exhausted from all the excitement,' Zent said. 'I had hoped to make it to the millionaire round, but I can't believe it really happened.'
Zent emerged from the first round of play the top winner with $17,000. Betty Kelley of Frankfort took home $12,000 from round one; Paul Voorhis of Lebanon emerged with $7,000 and 5,000 instant lottery tickets.
But Nate Hedges of La Grange and a proxy for his mother were winners, too. They took home $8,000. Nate Fishman of Evansville won $8,000 in round one and a bonus prize of 5,000 instant lottery tickets.
Once in the millionaire round, Zent chose a panel with a '150' on it, then one with '000,' adding $150,000 to his previous $17,000 bag of loot. Zent finished the night with $167,000.
'I would have been happy with winning $3,000,' said Zent. But this way, he can buy the new house he's been wanting.
Contestants for next week include: Evelyn Waters of Muncie; Sharon Lindsey of Indianapolis; Anthony Lemaire of Hamlet and Timothy Yoder of Elkhart.
Marquita Waikel of Fort Wayne and Tony Piwoszkin of Goshen have entry tickets for the March 25 game.
