Syracuse Man In Serious Condition

A Syracuse man is in serious condition today at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after a Saturday evening motorcycle accident.

James D. Cavender, 60, of Marine Key, Syracuse, suffered a fractured skull after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding on Center Street, 450 feet west of Hand Avenue in Warsaw around 6:09 p.m. Saturday.

Cavender was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

According to an accident report from the Warsaw Police Department, Cavender was traveling about 60 miles per hour at the time of the crash. Tire skids from the accident were measured at 66 feet, and the 2000 blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle skidded about 86 feet.

The cause of the accident is unknown, and the accident remains under investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
