A Syracuse man died Thursday afternoon as a result of injuries he suffered in a car crash late Saturday night or early Sunday morning near Tippecanoe Lake. The full obituary for Corey F. Kneller, 20, Syracuse, appears on page 3A of today’s newspaper. According to a press release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called out to Kosciusko Community Hospital Sunday at approximately 2:50 a.m. when emergency room personnel advised that they had a victim of a motor vehicle crash in their facility. Officers arrived and were advised that the individual, identified as Kneller, had apparently been involved in a motor vehicle crash and had been driven to the emergency room. Kneller was suffering from internal and head injuries and was later transferred to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Kosciusko County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team investigators and KCSD deputies located Kneller’s vehicle off the west side of CRs 400E and 800N. Milford Fire Department also arrived as Kneller’s 2001 Pontiac Grand Am had caught fire after striking a tree. FACT investigators stated evidence at the scene indicated that Kneller had been westbound on CR 800N and failed to negotiate the roadway curve and continued straight into a tree. FACT investigators were contacted early Friday by the Allen County Coroner’s Office and advised that Kneller had died. The Kosciusko County FACT advised the original crash is still under investigation at this time. Alcohol is also believed to be a factor in the crash, but they are currently awaiting legal blood draw lab results for final determination.
