SYRACUSE - Monday, officers from the Indiana State Police and the Syracuse Police Department went to a residence at 1315 N. Huntington St., Syracuse, to serve an arrest warrant on a John E. Heckaman.

Heckaman, 35, was wanted on Kosciusko County warrants for ephedrine restriction violations.

Once at the residence, the officers found Heckaman and placed him under arrest. While at the residence a meth lab was discovered in the garage. A further search of the property turned up other precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine in a shed and burn barrel in the back yard.

The Indiana State Police Clandestine Laboratory team was called to the scene to clean up the lab and remove the chemicals.

Heckaman was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on the ephedrine warrants and for possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine. He is currently being held on $2,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing by the Syracuse Police Department and the Indiana State Police.
