SYRACUSE – A head-on crash south of Syracuse Monday injured three people, one critically.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department release, officers and emergency personnel responded Monday at 2:44 p.m. to a 911 report of a head-on vehicular crash near the intersection of Ind. 13 and Waco Drive.
Responders arrived and located the driver of a 2006 Pontiac Gran Prix, identified as Peggy A. Page, 37, Pierceton, who was extricated and transported by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was in critical condition Monday but is now stable.
Her passenger, Shaun M. Church, 37, New Paris, was removed from the vehicle and transported to Goshen Hospital in serious condition with chest injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle involved, identified as James A. Brumbaugh, 66, Milford, was transported by Syracuse E.M.S. to Lutheran Hospital with chest injuries and numerous lacerations. He was discharged today.
Kosciusko County FACT/investigation members stated that a preliminary investigation of the crash determined that Page had crossed the center line of Ind. 13 near Waco Drive for an unknown reason, striking Brumbaugh’s 2003 GMC Envoy.
The Kosciusko County FACT Team was assisted at the scene by the Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse/Turkey Creek Fire Department and EMS and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
The crash is still under investigation.
