Syracuse Driver Injured In Crash

Posted

A Syracuse woman is in critical condition after a Thursday evening accident on Husky Trail in Warsaw.

Linda Nyce, 49, of 418 Edgewater Drive, Syracuse, was driving between 45 and 54 miles per hour on Husky Trail, about 750 feet north of Parker Street Extended, when she drove off the west side of a curve in the road.

Police believe she overcorrected, causing the car to slide sideways. Her four-door blue 1988 Chevrolet Nova slid across both lanes of Husky Trail and went off the east side of the road before hitting a guardrail and vaulting over it into a deep ditch.

The car then barrel rolled before coming to a stop.

Nyce, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the car. She suffered multiple injuries and was flown by Samaritan Air Ambulance to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she was listed in critical condition this morning.

High speed is considered a factor in the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, but drug and alcohol tests are being preformed.

The Warsaw Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Warsaw Fire Department, Plain Township EMS and Samaritan Air Ambulance.
