Posted
For those still looking for a Mother’s Day event idea you only have about two weeks to get your tickets to The Symphony of the Lakes Mother’s Day Chamber Concert.
The concert will be May 11 at 3 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel Theatre and The Symphony will dedicate this performance to all mothers. This concert is geared toward not only mom, but the entire family, according to a press release from the theater.
What makes the event unique is the Symphony of the Lakes will reveal its first Season Subscription Series, the release states. Patrons attending this concert will be the first to hear about all of the exciting events planned for September through May.
The concert will feature four different performing ensembles. The Symphony’s woodwind quintet will perform a collection of Hungarian dances composed by the lesser-known Hungarian composer Ferenc Farakas. The brass quintet also will perform, including the works by the musical theatre writing duo Rodgers and Hammerstein as well as Henry Mancini featuring “The Pink Panther.” Three of the newest members of the violin section of the orchestra will join Maestro Thomas Stirling in a performance of Telemann’s “Violin Quartet in G Major.” Last, several members of the string section of the symphony will perform one of the earliest orchestral chamber pieces ever written – “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3” by Johann Sebastian Bach.
The release states, “Over the next two weeks, make sure that you keep up with the symphony on social media. There will be special opportunities both on our symphony Facebook page and on Twitter to receive exclusive opportunities to win free subscriptions and find out about other special promotions.”
