In today's society, everyone, not just those students who are mathematically inclined, must understand algebraic concepts and be able to work with technology.
When it comes to students' education, expert instruction and the right classroom learning tools are essential. Help your children achieve academic success and reach their mathematic potential by entering your local middle or high school to win a $10,000 prize from the Texas Instruments and Sylvan Learning Technology & Tutoring Awards Program.
"For more than 27 years, Sylvan Learning has partnered with local educators to provide resources to help students succeed in mathematics," says Cindy Riemersma, executive director of Warsaw Sylvan Learning Center. "Sylvan Learning is proud to partner with Texas Instruments to support our neighborhood schools. Through the Texas Instruments and Sylvan Learning Technology & Tutoring Awards Program, schools have an opportunity to outfit their math departments with the latest technology in math instruction.
Beginning March 1, 2007, teachers, parents and students can enter their middle or high school to win one of three $10,000 prizes from Sylvan Learning and Texas Instruments. Each winning school will receive 30 TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculators, a TI-Navigator Classroom Learning System that provides wireless communication between students' graphing calculators and the teacher's laptop to ensure hands-on learning, T3 professional development for a classroom teacher and a Sylvan Learning tutoring scholarship for 36 hours of in-center or online instruction.
Parents, students and teachers residing in the United States and Canada (excluding Quebec) are eligible to enter. Limit one entry per person per day. Families can visit http://tutoring.sylvanlearning.com/schooltechnology to enter their middle of high school until Dec. 20. One winning school will be randomly chosen in August, October, and December/January.
