Sylvan J. Schwegman, 67, Warsaw, died at 12:07 p.m. Nov. 10, 2009, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born May 10, 1942, in Rush County, to Elmer J. and Esther Meer Schwegman. He married Betty Copeland, who preceded him in death.
He was a resident of Kosciusko County for 40 years. He was employed at Dalton Foundries as a cost accountant and he owned NBS Office Supply in Warsaw, Goshen and Wabash for 25 years. He was an advisor for Warsaw Junior Achievement at Dalton Foundries for several years. He collected stamps, comic books and coins, was an avid Notre Dame fan, loved sports and admired JFK. He had a quick sense of humor and truly enjoyed family and friends. He truly enjoyed "flying" with Gwen in the white plane.
Surviving are two brothers, Franklin (and spouse Judy) Schwegman, New Castle, and Stephen (and spouse Cindi) Schwegman, Highland; two sisters, Rebecca (and spouse Gary) Wainright, St. Simons, Ga., and Brenda (and spouse Wayne) Sheldon, Culver; two nieces, Melissa "Missy" (and spouse Bill) Eckhoff, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Vanessa Schwegman, Bloomington; five nephews: Michael Schwegman, San Diego; Reeve Wainright and Robert "Bobby" Wainright, both of Athens, Ga.; Zachary Sheldon and Austin Sheldon, both of Culver. His "Warsaw family" includes Linda Francis and Gwen Carter, both of Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Cambridge City, with Father Joe Rautenberg officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Cambridge City.
Calling is from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel.
