INDIANAPOLIS - Susan A. Adkins Engle, 66, Greenwood, passed away Feb. 2, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis. She was born May 18, 1948, the tenth child of Charles and Alma Orman Adkins. She married Lowell Engle, who survives. She was a long-time resident of Warsaw, retiring from Kimble Glass/Owens Illinois before moving to Greenwood in 2004. She made many friends as a resident of Greenwood Meadows. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing cards and games. She especially liked watching western movies and television shows. She deeply appreciated nature, birds, animals, trees, flowers, rocks, snow and mountains. She was particularly fond of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the southwestern United States. Also surviving are two daughters: Laura Dodson, Indianapolis, and Amy (and spouse Christopher) Parks, Rocky Face, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jarrett Dodson, Indianapolis, Kirbi (and spouse Keith) Baldridge and McKenna Parks, both from Georgia; two great-grandsons: Cash and Briar, both from Georgia; a sister, Nina Stapley, Arizona; a brother, Guy Adkins, Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and five brothers. Services are planned later in the spring. Visitation is Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 7520 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, followed by a dignified cremation. ***** Memorials may be made to Franciscan St. Francis Healthcare Foundation or to a favorite charity, or canned food donations to a local foodbank.
