Supports Young Voters

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

Josh Bartman shared things that we should look at. Instead, some have criticized and poked fun at his letters. We ought to realize that the younger generation will be voting in large numbers this year. McCain/Palin appears to them to represent a party that "can't or won't" change.

Barak Obama offers them a "glimmer of hope" at a time when they see signs of distress that the present administration of eight years is partially responsible. To belittle him (and his peers) is not likely to change their plan to vote for Obama.

Things are not great for everyone living in the USA today. Josh was brave enough to touch on them in spite of the unkind criticism. Much of the criticism of him and his views has been quite patronizing. Those of us who are older ought to remember the idealism we had when we were younger and praise Josh for wanting to see changes to better help our citizens.

Barak Obama is calling for changes which may or may not materialize. Not all in the Republican Party seek change, but change is going to happen whether they want it or not. Young people will make "choices for change" as we the older generation pass away. It is the natural way. Give Josh a "pat on the back" for showing interest in the election process when many "young and old" don't even take time to vote.

Hang in there, Josh! Please keep in mind that there are patriots in both parties and those who are independent. Thank you for letting me share something positive about this young man.
