Editor, Times-Union: For the past 18 months, Kosciusko Silent NO More has been focused on the U.S. Senate race. It’s been an amazing two years!
As co-founder of Hoosiers for Conservative Senate, it has been my privilege to work on a statewide level to see that Dick Lugar (who was elected the year I was born, and at the time ... a conservative, to now what has become the second most liberal Senator in the United States Senate) is replaced with a fiscal constitutional conservative.
Dick Lugar’s voting record is astoundingly liberal, from his support of the START Treaty, to his support of illegal immigration, to his massive over spending, bailouts, debt increases ... and the straw that broke the camel’s back for me ... his rubber-stamp of the liberal Supreme Court Justices.
Most of you are following the HHS abortion coverage mandate on the religious institutions ... Yeah, you guessed it. Your liberal Senator voted to confirm Kathleen Sebelius HHS Secretary who implemented that.
That being said, I have had the privilege to speak out on these issues to the media for 18 months. Interview after interview about why we need to retire Lugar.
The election is now upon us, and I have noticed the questions have changed. The media is now interested in why I support my candidate, Richard Mourdock.
“Mrs Boyer, why do you support your candidate?” As I open my mouth, I find something happens. I cannot stop talking about why I support this candidate! Let me just give you a few reasons why I support Richard Mourdock, and then I urge you to do what I did, and send Mr. Lugar a message, that Hoosiers are tired of the D.C. cesspool, and we want someone to represent our conservative values.
1. Richard Mourdock is pro-life. He believes life begins at conception. He is endorsed by the Indiana Right to Life.
2. Richard Mourdock is pro Second Amendment. He has been endorsed by the NRA. (Mr. Lugar was rated an F by the NRA.)
3. Richard Mourdock believes in limited government.
4. Richard Mourdock would have voted no on TARP, and all of the massive bailouts.
5. Richard Mourdock opposes earmarks and reckless spending.
6. Richard Mourdock believes in term limits.
7. Richard Mourdock will not be a rubber stamp for the president for any judicial nominee, appointment or czar.
8. Richard Mourdock believes in getting the government’s boots off the necks of businesses.
9. Richard Mourdock believes we must immediately secure the border and enforce the law. He opposes the DREAM act and any bill that provides amnesty for illegal immigrants.
10. Most of all, I’ve had the privilege of seeing Mr. Mourdock’s integrity. I have seen first hand, when no one is looking. he does the right thing. I’ve seen him handle difficult situations and choose to do the right thing, even if it costs him.
I want a Senator who will stand for the values that our founders stood for, and who will do the right thing even if it hurts. That is why I voted for Richard Mourdock. I hope you will cast your vote for him next Tuesday.
It’s time!
