Editor, Times-Union: I support Richard Mourdock for the U.S. Senate. Richard Mourdock will make cutting spending and balancing the federal budget his first priority in the U.S. Senate. He opposes tax increases and is against earmarks for senators’ pet projects. He will work to reduce the size of the federal government and to minimize government regulation in the private sector in order to spur business and economic growth.
Senator Lugar on the other hand has voted against ending or even reforming earmark spending. He voted to continue earmarks as recently as Feb. 2. He even joined with Democrats on Nov. 30, 2010, to stop Republican senators from placing a three-year moratorium on all earmarks.
Senator Lugar has worked hard over the years. He is a fine person. He just is wrong on his policies. Richard Mourdock lines up with what I believe America needs today.
