Editor, Times-Union: I remember seeing all the protests in Wisconsin over trying to fix the budget problem that was plaguing that state. Tens of thousands of public union workers were protesting because Gov. Scott Walker wanted to reform public sector union collective bargaining rights over pensions and health care among other things. Governor Walker’s goal was to help close a 3.6 Billion dollar shortfall. There were days of protests, shouting, and death threats. In the end, Governor Walker and the State Assembly got what they wanted and helped Wisconsin close its budget shortfall and actually turned budget deficits into surpluses, and helped students, workers, and taxpayers alike. From here in Indiana, I admired the backbone those legislators showed by not caving into pressure to do what they knew was the right thing to do. Little did I know that three years later, I would meet one of the people who helped turn Wisconsin around for the better. That person was Pam Galloway. She was the key vote in a narrow majority that helped close a $3.6 billion budget deficit without raising taxes on the citizens. She is the only candidate running that has closed any state budget deficit and she will work hard to eliminate the $19 trillion debt that our country is currently facing. Her record is one that expounds the concept of individual freedom that the voters have been clamoring for. She’s gone out to all counties of the district and has heard their concerns, then shaped her platform around what she heard. Most candidates shape their platform based on what they want to tell voters, unlike Pam Galloway, who listened to voters, then shaped her platform. While the other candidates were running to the donors and the special interest groups, Pam Galloway was running to the voters. If you want someone who will go to Washington and listen to your concerns and act for the individual freedom for Hoosiers and all Americans, Pam Galloway is the best choice. Gary Eppenbaugh Warsaw
