I am writing to set the record straight on Mitch Daniels.
A writer or huffer was comparing Governor Mitch Daniels to Governor Blagojevich of Illinois. They were claiming that leasing the 80-90 toll road was the same as selling the governor's seat in Illinois. I beg to show you the obvious.
Governor Blagojevich, on the tapes that I heard, was vehemently and irreverently complaining to a candidate representative that he should get something out of the deal, that the governor's seat is f-ing valuable. Now let me ask you, how does Blago's potential profit from selling a governor's seat benefit the state of Illinois?
Now, let's take a look at Mitch Daniels' accomplishments, which I might add are done with the approval of the state assembly and this Hoosier's approval.
When Mitch Daniels took the reigns of governorship our state was in the red, budget wise. Translation for the ignorant: more spending than revenue. Here's some fast facts from that right-wing rag in Terre Haute, (Tribune Star): "Indiana's revenue exceeded expenses by 321.4 million dollars for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2008. Illinois has a projected shortfall of 2.5 billion for the same period." "Illinois Governor Blagojevich cut 1.4 billion from the state budget: $100 million from education, $210 million from vital social services and $600 million from healthcare."
In 2005, Governor Mitch Daniels signed legislation that created "shovel-ready property sites for prospective businesses." These sites are precertified as ready for development, which bypasses one-third of the time it takes to get a permit. Honda, as a result, has built on one of these statewide sites.
My man Mitch cuts red-tape and red pens. That is governing like I want my governor to. Not to mention the billions in profit from the sale of 80-90, that he distributed to the local governments, i.e. South Bend, which can't bring itself to admit they have a surplus.
So, keep going Mitch, shake off the haters. You are properly representing this Hoosier, and you won't catch me back-biting you without any knowledge or grasp of the facts.
What rhymes with Mitch and starts with a "B" seems to be all that Democrats and Liberals can do when they can't be in power or buy their way.
