Editor, Times-Union: Many have asked me why I support Dave Kolbe for state representative. I have told them that I have known Dave for over 25 years from when he and Kathy attended Pleasant Grove Church along with my family. I came to know him then as a person that listened to other’s viewpoints with an open mind and without rancor or disdain. Over the years Dave counseled me professionally. Most times he pushed for me to mediate differences with others rather than to litigate. His advice saved my businesses thousands of dollars through the years. As prosecutor, Dave came across sometimes as heavy-handed with some of the establishment and I believe in retrospect he understands now that there are some things he could have done different. With Dave, you have a person of high morals and character that is very introspective of their own actions. For example, I know that Dave has met with or attempted to meet with any individual that felt that he had in some way treated them in a way they didn't think was right. That's the way he is. It’s his Christian roots that push him to work out a problem with someone else. Some people still hold grudges, it's just the way they are. But knowing Dave, I know he has done his part to right the wrong or in many cases the “perceived” wrong. I own two businesses in District 22.
