Support Debate

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:

I am writing in response to the child support debate between Mr. Hollar and Michelle Harter.

Mr. Hollar, I am drawing my own conclusion as well. I am guessing Ms. Harter has children, and like many women I know probably has the an entitlement viewpoint. Which means they view their children as a paycheck, disability or a tool. Unfortunately for you, Mr. Hollar, since you are biologically inequipped to bear a child you are unable to reap the benefits of the government handouts. Such as free rent, free food, free electric, free schooling, free medical care, as well as free government assistance with childcare. While childcare support is set as the mother pays half and the father pays half, where does the mother pay half when almost everything is technically paid for by the taxpayers?

I have a daughter from a broken home and chose not to file for child support. Why? I only ask for money when my daughter directly needs something because we all know that the majority of times these women spend that child support on other things then the child. I don't want anyone to feel as if they are trapped into an 18-year prison sentence and, despite the fact there is an innocent child that needs love. A child should be a blessing not a regret.

I am guessing the women who are reading this and becoming aggravated are those whom fit into the category I described, so I will give you some advice. Stop thinking your child is a paycheck or a tool to use against the father because one day that child will be of age where they make their own decisions and will despise you for making things difficult.

Advice to you men, stop having children with women you do not plan to stay with.

So, Michelle, do not judge the aggravation of a man until you are in their position and someone can take up to 55 percent of your paycheck all while you are trying to pay your own bills so your child has a warm place to visit you.

So, yes, Mr. Hollar, the system is corrupt and women are being rewarded for having children and the taxpayers are being punished.

Michelle, I am 100 percent positive if it were possible these men would gladly take custody of their children so they can have all the control like the system gives to the women.
