NAPPANEE – No one was injured after a fire Sunday at First Church of God, 72036 CR 7, Nappanee.
Nappanee Fire Department responded to the call shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday, said Fire Chief Don Lehman.
Upon arrival on the scene, flames were through the roof of the church, he said. There was extensive damage to the building, but Lehman didn’t have any damage estimate.
Lehman confirmed there were people in the church participating in Sunday school services when the fire started.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office, but is not suspicious, he said.
Pastors of the church are Sam and Diane Bennett. They began their ministry in 2003, according to the church’s website at https://napfirstchog.com.
