Sun Metal announced Friday that it has sold its North Detroit Street offices and manufacturing facility to Whimet Inc., another Warsaw-based company. Sun Metal also announced that its corporate office, along with product assembly and U.S. distribution, will remain in Warsaw.
Last year, Sun Metal had listed its Warsaw and North Manchester facilities for sale, noting that it intended to sell one of the properties and house its operations in the remaining facility. One of the plants became expendable because Sun Metal relocated most of its manufacturing to its China facility.
Following the sale of the Warsaw property in late December, Sun Metal began relocation preparations in North Manchester, and is presently using that location as a temporary warehouse. However, recent discussions with Whimet management disclosed that sufficient space could now be made available in the former Sun Metal facility in Warsaw to house Sun Metal's remaining operations. Sun Metal will now lease part of the North Detroit Street premises from Whimet.
Bob Piecuch, Sun Metal, said, "We are pleased that our cooperative arrangement with Whimet allows Sun Metal to remain in the Warsaw community."
The North Manchester facility will continue as a temporary warehouse but eventually will be put on the market for sale.
