Editor, Times-Union:

Eight weeks, 194 registered participants, 6,162 books read, 353 prizes awarded, 45 programs taught, total number attending all programs 920!

Akron Carnegie Public Library couldn’t be prouder of our young patrons for their enthusiasm shown during our 2021 Summer Reading Program, Tails & Tales. We are giving a huge shout out and thank you to our patrons for their continued support of our small library and wanting to congratulate each participant for encouraging us through superb reading efforts, attending our many programs and giving us the opportunity to present such a fun-filled summer of activities for each of you.

A special thank you goes out to Lake City Bank, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen and the Igloo for their continued generosity in donating to our Summer Reading Program incentives. We also want to thank Ruth Ann Harter for bringing her monkey to the closing party for the children to enjoy … and to Alaina McDonald for volunteering to face paint. We love our community and extended community like no other!

We’d also like to give a shout out to those parents that pitched in to help us make our programs a success as well as our special friend Aggie Bogle! You all are awesome and we couldn’t have done it without out you! Together, we are building a love for reading and showcasing our library’s ability to move forward with the changing times.

Thank you also to the staff family at Akron Carnegie Public Library for the hours you gave to make a memorable Summer Reading Program! It takes a team and I work with some pretty amazing people!
