Sue Ellen Johnston, 75, peacefully went home to be with her Heavenly Father Feb. 2, 2016, while holding the hand of her husband of 57 years, Gaylord Dean Johnston, at Englewood Florida Community Hospital. She was born Feb. 20, 1940, in Warsaw, to George Robert and Esther Fern Rush Houck. She met her future husband, Gaylord, while on a hay ride for church function in 1958, and they were married on June 19, 1959. He survives in Warsaw and will deeply miss her. She was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, and a member of the Warsaw Church of God. She was a graduate of Mentone High School in 1958. She enjoyed volunteering with Bible school, transporting kids to church, potluck dinners, and sponsoring a young girl through high school, college graduation and eventually got her doctorate. Her biggest joy was spending vacations with her grandchild and travelling to see her great-grandchildren. She and her husband spent the last 13 winters in Florida. She loved to watch the wildlife from her porch window. Many days the two of them would jump in the car to catch a sunset as a perfect ending to the day. One of their favorite lunches was a hotdog at the jetty while watching the boats, fishermen and dolphins. She also will be deeply missed by two children, Nancy (and spouse Warren) Corriveau, Wake Forest, N.C., and Thomas Johnston, Rochester, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Dustin Cotterman; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Kaylee Cotterman, all of Rolesville, N.C.; two sisters, Patricia Tarvin and Carol Reed, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a brother, George (and spouse Dixie) Houck, Warsaw. She is dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, family and friends from all over the world. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Tim Kumfer officiating. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. ***** Condolences via www.redpathfruthfuneralhome.com
