Monday afternoon, students in Mark McCollom's eighth-grade Science Plus class at Lakeview Middle School became the science teachers at Jefferson Elementary School. The middle school students taught sixth-graders in Sandy McClellan's and Kyle Carter's sixth-grade classes about the various science projects they made this year. Projects ranged from 'How a Curve Ball Curves' to the science behind a catapult. McCollom said one way for students to better understand their science projects is for them to teach it to others. Monday was the first time the middle school traveled to an elementary school to educate students on science projects. Lakeview Middle School science teacher Dan Wray also is taking his class to Washington Elementary School later this week. Science Plus is an advanced science course that is more project-based and attempts to get students more excited about the possibility of a career in science.
