INDIANAPOLIS - State Sen. Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) recently welcomed the following area students as legislative pages:
- Todd Eastis, son of Colleen Eastis and a student at Warsaw Community High School.
- Brett Heinisch, son of Doug and Heidi Heinisch and student at Wawasee High School.
- Cal Heinisch, son of Doug and Heidi Heinisch and a student at Wawasee Middle School.
During the legislative session, pages spend one day at the Statehouse working with their senator and Senate staff. According to Mishler, student pages start the day in orientation before touring the historic Statehouse. Throughout the day, pages spend time in the Senate chamber observing the introduction of bills, listening to debates and delivering important messages among senators and staff.
Students in grades six through 12 are invited to serve as pages, Mishler said.
Slots are filled for the remainder of the 2010 session but Mishler encouraged those interested in additional information for the 2011 session to call 800-382-9467.
Mishler represents Senate District 9, which includes portions of Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joseph counties.
